Hello, my name is Wade Sonenberg, and I’m a twenty something web programmer/designer living Athens, GA. I began designing websites for our family’s real estate firm back in 2002, and it has evolved into what we now like to call Rainmaker Web Design.
Web Design
My main interest in web design is the marketing aspect for businesses, hence my attention to SEO. I develop sites with MySQL, PHP, CSS, Javascript and XHTML. Lastly, I’m fascinated with Google maps. Every site I develop, and every technology learned, I seek better ways of communicating and doing business on the web – hence the financial term “Rainmaker.”
Business Background
After being successful, yet miserable, in big ticket sales I switched gears towards web development in order to provide my self the freedom to choose my hours and location. So far it’s allowed me to work the dock, have conference calls from Smoky Mountain NP, and even move cities without skipping a beat. I grew up around commercial real estate, and heard terms like cap rates and 1031 exchanges an early age. After college, I specialized in office leasing and sales, as well as commercial land after graduating with a BBA from Terry College of Business at UGA. I’ve even qualified for the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors’ Million Dollar Club multiple times, but I still enjoy the creativity (and less stress) of web development.
Outside & Travel
What can I say, I try to get out when ever possible, and I simply love to travel. I’ve had a passion for getting outside and seeing new places since I was a little squirt as my grandpa called me when staying with him in the Florida Keys. At age eight in a pond near my parent’s house I began to fish for largemouth bass (at age ten I caught a seven pound hog that’s still my best bass)*, and never lost that wonder lust as the suburbs grew in around me.
*Got two 9+ bass this year, still looking to join the ten pound club
I’ve spent two years in Colorado and visited 35 states & 13 national parks. In between, I’ve taken up fly-fishing, hiking, bouldering, shooting, boating, white-water kayaking, skiing, and now… writing, I suppose. For a couple years I even ran a outdoors blog hosting site, called OutdoorsBlogger.com. I’ll revamp it as my personal travel log sometime in the spring, so stay tuned. Lastly, my most notable memories must be of tying the knot at a ski resort to the most beautiful girl in the world. Yes, skiing on one’s wedding day is a dream come true.
